Launch day process and timing

On launch day, you’ll receive an email with instructions to help you get started with your course. This email will arrive by 5:00 PM ET at the latest, though it’s often sent earlier.

If you haven’t received access by 5:00 PM ET, don’t worry—just reach out to us, and we’ll make sure you’re all set to begin.

What If I can’t start the course on launch day?

No problem! If you’re unable to start on launch day, you’ll still have some flexibility to complete the coursework at your own pace.

That said, we encourage you to review the materials and complete the exercises before meeting with your peer group. Staying on track ensures you’re prepared to participate fully in discussions and activities, which will enhance your learning experience.

Account requirements

To successfully complete the Advanced Figma and Prototyping in Figma courses, you’ll need access to a Figma Professional or Figma Education account.

If you don’t already have a Figma Pro account, you can sign up for a free Figma Education account using your Designlab student status. This account will give you access to all the features necessary for the course.

Important: The Starter Figma account is not sufficient for these advanced courses, as it lacks key features required for assignments and exercises.

Using an existing Figma pro account
If you already have a Figma Pro account through your company, you don’t need to set up an Education account. You can continue using your existing Figma Pro account throughout the course. The Education plan is intended to support students who don’t have access to Figma Pro.

Troubleshooting Figma access

If you encounter any issues setting up your Figma account, you can:

  1. Post your question in the Designlab Discord community, where your mentor or peers can help troubleshoot.
  2. Reach out to the Designlab Team for assistance.
