My student has fallen behind in the coursework, what is the best approach?

If your student is behind less than 20 hours, have a candid conversation with your student and create a game plan to tackle these assignments together. Help them set priorities and group assignments together, and provide time-management or working tips to help them through it. It’s a great area to help a student as a mentor!

If your student is behind more than 20 hours, go through the above steps, but also discuss with the student about taking a pause week to catch up on work. This way, the hours behind would not continue to accumulate, and the student can focus on catching up.

If you feel like you have exhausted all options, please send us a message with the student name and the scenarios that lead you to this conclusion.
