How do I request the cancellation of my enrollment?

To cancel your enrollment, you’ll need to contact us here providing the email address associated with your account and specifying which course enrollment you wish to cancel. Once we receive this information, we’ll follow up with the next steps.

 

UX Academy Foundations:

We want students to feel secure in their decision to sign up for a Designlab short course, which is why we offer a clear refund policy for all of our courses. UX Academy Foundations cancellation requests must be submitted within 30 days of your cohort’s official end date. You can find the full details of the Foundations refund policy below: 

  • If you haven’t completed any of your mentorship sessions, we are typically able to provide you with a full refund for your course. 
  • If you have completed one or more mentorship sessions, we can provide you with a prorated refund for your course. 
  • If you’ve forfeited any of your mentorship sessions, you may not be eligible for a refund for your course. 

One good thing to note is that your request for a refund may only be honored if Designlab is responsible for your issues with your course experience, such as a problem with mentorship, curriculum, etc.

UX Academy:

Our full refund policy may be found on our policies page, as well as in your student agreement.

Here is how refunds work for UX Academy students (please keep in mind this policy is in reference only to UX Academy):


Students have the right to cancel their enrollment at any time. To request cancellation or a refund, students must contact Designlab via email at hello@designlab.com. This request may only be made by the student enrolled in the program unless the course was invoiced to a third-party entity or cardholder.

Students who cancel the course within the first two weeks for any reason will receive a full refund for all payments made. After this two-week period, the $399 USD deposit becomes non-refundable (except for a refund granted in accordance with the Tuition Reimbursement Policy).

If a student chooses to cancel their enrollment at any time after the first two weeks, Designlab will issue a pro­rated refund, less the non-­refundable deposit fee.

The refund amount issued is solely based on the number of weeks that have elapsed from the student’s course launch date regardless of how the student has utilized the program resources during their time in the course or how much progress the student has made in the course itself.

Advanced Courses - Happiness Promise:

Students enrolled in an Advanced Course can receive a full refund if they cancel before the course begins or within the first week. After this period, refunds are not possible, however, we do offer the Designlab Happiness Promise which is our commitment to ensuring your educational journey with us is valuable and fulfilling. At Designlab, we’re dedicated to providing top-tier educational experiences that empower our students to achieve their learning and career aspirations. The Designlab Happiness Promise (available for all our Advanced Courses) is our commitment to ensuring your educational journey with us is valuable and fulfilling.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for the Designlab Happiness Promise, you must:

  • Successfully complete the course, including completing all lessons, attendance of all sessions, and timely submission of all assignments (within 48 hours of peer group sessions).
  • Actively engage in mentor sessions and peer discussions.
  • Fill out the course feedback survey to share your experience and suggest improvements.

Claim Process

If you believe the course didn’t meet your expectations after meeting the above criteria, you may claim under the Designlab Happiness Promise:

  • Notification: Inform us of your dissatisfaction within 7 days after the course ends, detailing your concerns and how the course did not match your expectations, via email to our support team.
  • Review: Our team will assess your claim, considering your participation, assignment submissions, and feedback. This may involve additional questions or requests for more information to thoroughly understand your experience.
  • Resolution: Upon approving your claim, we will offer one of the following remedies:
    • A complete refund of your course fees.
    • A chance to retake the course at no additional cost in the next cohort, with extra support tailored to your feedback.
    • Alternative educational resources or courses that may better suit your needs, depending on availability.

Limitations and Conditions

  • The Happiness Promise applies to Advanced Courses offered by Designlab and is not valid for other courses or services.
  • Claims should be based on the educational quality, mentorship, or content of the course. Dissatisfaction stemming from personal reasons, external factors, or changes in career objectives will not qualify.
  • The pledge is valid for the original course purchaser only and is not transferable.
  • Each student is entitled to one claim per course.

Refund information:

Once processed, the refund amount typically takes 5–10 days to appear on your bank statement. Please do not dispute the payment with your bank in an effort to speed up the refund process—this actually makes it take much longer.

If you dispute a payment, we are required to submit evidence to your bank to prove that your payment was not fraudulent, and we won't be able to refund you until the bank reviews the evidence and releases the funds back to us. It can take several weeks for disputes to be resolved, depending upon your bank. Disputing a payment may add weeks on to the typical 5–10 days it takes to process a refund. If you have any concerns about a payment, please reach out to us here and we'll be happy to help you out in the fastest manner possible.

All tuition information is provided in USD. All refunds will be processed in USD and subject to any currency exchange rates or foreign banking transaction fees. This means that differences in currency exchange rates from the date of payment as well as foreign transaction fees are the responsibility of the student.
